Hill & Smith have vast experience in the manufacturing of highway barrier systems. The group's
strength and commitment to road safety provides technically advanced and innovative products that
have been thoroughly tested to meet UK and American specification standards.

The company is able to offer a wide range of EN 1317 approved and cost-effective safety products
including Absorbent Acoustic Barriers, Parapet and Barrier Departure and Approach products, High
Containment and Normal Containment Safety Barriers and End Treatments.

Flexbeam

HILL & SMITH's policy to design products which comply with HA EN 1317 requirements has led to the development of a new flagship product with the trade mark . It is an untensioned corrugated barrier system, offering a wider flexibility in application.

FLEXBEAM is developed around the traditional "W" section corrugated beam and "Z" post profile. This development has allowed Hill & Smith to offer a compliant, cost-effective barrier that contains the fewest component parts of any UK system. Just two beam lengths are required, which is ideal for maintenance works. Test standards include N2, H1 and H2. The system's new and improved features include new post profiles with wider post spacing and longer beams, ensuring total flexibility for all conditions, whilst holding minimal components.

FLEXBEAM is low maintenance due to the untensioned specification and allows for a seamless transition and full integration with existing systems. The new driven post has no driving plate, ensuring rapid assembly using beams up to 4 metres in length.

FLEXBEAM is not only compliant with EN 1317, it is the only N2 UK system to have all ASI A approval.

Hill & Smith will continue to supply the traditional barrier systems; Tensioned Corrugated systems (TCB) and Open Box Beam systems (OBB), for both maintenance purposes and new build where these specifications are acceptable.

To compliment the barrier systems we are also able to offer crashworthy end terminals and anti-glare systems.

End Terminal P4

Hill & Smith also offer the Euro-ET end terminal. This is a P4 terminal for providing a crash-worthy end treatment for any of our barrier systems.

Antiglare System

On multi-lane carriageways with heavy night-time traffic and high accident rates after dark, the Hill & Smith ANTI-GLARE system can significantly improve safety. Vanes attached to barriers on the central reservation are specifically designed to block the glare from oncoming traffic and other lightsources which may distract drivers. Quick and easy to install, the system can be fitted to new or existing lines of safety barrier with a common rail mounting bracket.
